We have seen too many times the terrible impact that flooding can have on our homes and businesses. Here in Pontypridd people are still dealing with the results of the flooding from a year ago.Every time it rains heavily now, people are anxious it could flood again which has a massive impact on their mental health.
In response to Adam Price, Leader of Plaid Cymru's call for a strategic national policy on flooding, Heledd Fychan, Councillor for Pontypridd Town Ward and Plaid Cymru Senedd candidate said:
“ We have seen too many times the terrible impact that flooding can have on our homes and businesses. Here in Pontypridd people are still dealing with the results of the flooding from a year ago. Every time it rains heavily now, people are anxious it could flood again which has a massive impact on their mental health.
“I agree that we need a sustainable national strategy for flooding so we can support communities and prevent flooding from becoming a regular occurrence that harms our local economy, as well as physical and mental health.
"I will continue to campaign for an independent inquiry into the devastating flooding across RCT in 2020 which could help provide crucial evidence in creating a national strategy."
